Does your company take a positive social role in our community?

Supporting Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) strengthens your brand, fosters community and employee trust, and demonstrates a commitment to ethical practices. By aligning with Newbury Soup Kitchen, your company will drive positive social change, attract conscious consumers and build stronger stakeholder relationships.

Who are Newbury Soup Dragons?

Newbury Soup Dragons are a group of local companies who support our charity by pledging a monthly contribution. In return, these businesses can showcase their involvement as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, helping them meet social and environmental goals while making a real tangible difference in our community.

By becoming a Newbury Soup Dragon, companies demonstrate their commitment to supporting community projects and the well-being of those in need. The monthly contributions fund a wide range of our activities such as building costs, food provision, clothing, tents and our ever extending outreach services, all essential support for underprivileged people. Newbury Soup Dragons gain visibility as compassionate, community-focused organisations, and we, as a charity, offer them opportunities to actively participate in events and initiatives that align with their CSR strategies.

The Newbury Soup Dragons network also allows businesses to connect with like-minded local companies, fostering partnerships and collaborations that benefit both the charity and the broader community. Joining the Newbury Soup Dragons is more than just a financial contribution, it's a meaningful way to make a lasting positive impact in your community while fulfilling corporate social obligations.

A Night to Remember: The 2024 Newbury Soup Kitchen Fundraising Event

This year’s event at The Vineyard was an extraordinary success, raising an incredible £60,000 to support Newbury Soup Kitchen. The evening brought together 123 attendees for a 19-lot auction, showcasing the generosity and community spirit of local businesses and individuals.

Special thanks to our Patron, Will Young, and our fantastic auctioneer, Rob Rinder MBE, whose skill and humor inspired remarkable contributions. The event began with a warm welcome of All Angels sparkling wine, courtesy of Mark Darley, and a fabulous three-course meal crafted by Tom Scade and The Vineyard’s kitchen team.

We are deeply grateful to businesses like Banjo Cycles, The Braywood, and Pro-Vision for their auction and raffle donations, along with our incredible Soup Dragons—local companies who pledge regular donations to support our work.

To our volunteers, trustees, and supporters—your dedication makes our mission possible. Thank you for helping us create lasting change in our community.

CHARITY OF THE YEAR WINNERS 2024

Designed to acknowledge and reward the great work of local charitable organisations, volunteers and fundraisers to improve the lives of others in West Berkshire and north Hampshire, we are delighted to say Newbury Soup Kitchen not only won our category but also scoped the Charity of the Year award, host of the evening, Ken ‘Pop Master’ Bruce, said “A very very worthy winner”.

HOMELESS CHARITY BECOMING HOMELESS

Due to unforeseen circumstances Newbury Soup Kitchen has been given notice to leave our Operational Unit in Newbury from mid-March 2025.

We are in desperate need of new accommodation to house our Commercial kitchen, food storage, offices and parking for our two vehicles.

This is the opportunity to find a space to move all our services under one roof to the centre of the town. We are reaching out to our local community for help to us find a suitable location and to help with fundraising for increased rental costs when they come.

Founder and CEO, Meryl Praill said: “This is the beginning of a new chapter for Newbury Soup Kitchen, we look forward to the future and expanding our charity to enable us to provide all our services in one place.”

We would like to wholeheartedly thank SWIFT Logistics for the kindness and support we have received to date, with this we have been able to grow and provided the bespoke services, help, food and support for people in our community experiencing homelessness and who are vulnerably housed.

Please contact Meryl Praill CEO and Founder if you can help
